Obituary

Kenneth Walker McHaney, 79, of Nacogdoches, TX, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, December 24, 2018 at 11:29am while resting peacefully in Larkspur Nursing Center in Lufkin. Ken will be most notably remembered for operating his "Ken's and M&M Mint Mkts." convenience stores in and around Nacogdoches where he was a dedicated member of Fredonia Hill Baptist Church and an avid dog and people lover. Mr. McHaney's family knew him to be focused on and most happy with his wife of 57 years, Mary Frances, and his children, grandchildren, and great grandchild. He was a great father, dedicated friend, and loving husband. Born in Kilgore, TX on July 19, 1939 to Raymond McHaney and Sara Elizabeth (Walker) McHaney, he worked his way through college to become a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor's in Accounting. He the traveled from New Foundland, Canada to Cape Canaveral, Florida as a 1st Lieutenant Supply Officer in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1966 before settling in Nacogdoches to start his business and raise his family. He is survived by wife Mary Frances of Lufkin, son Michael and his wife Amy of Lufkin, grand children Miller McHaney of Phoenix, Ashley Capps of Lufkin, Miley McHaney of Lufkin, great grandchild Zoey Sessions of Lufkin, brother Randolph McHaney of Houston, sisters in law Kaye McHaney of Lufkin, Janet Allen and husband Wayne of Conroe, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by daughter Mary Michelle, brother Darwin, sister Peggy Smith, and sisters in law Beth Wood and Ann McHaney. A memorial service for Mr. McHaney will be Friday, December 28th, at the Dickie Allen Funeral Home in Cushing at 11 AM with Pastor Danny Cryer of the First Ora Missionary Baptist church in Ora, Texas officiating. The family will receive visitors starting at 10 AM Friday at the funeral home.
