Funeral services for Kenneth Wayne Hackney, 69, of Alto, will be Saturday, February 23rd, 2019 at 1 pm at the New Hope Baptist Church in Alto, Texas. Burial will follow at the New Hope Cemetery. Kenneth passed away Friday, February 15th, in Jacksonville. He was born February 5, 1950 in Rusk, Texas to Samuel L. Jordan and Beulah Mae Hackney. Kenneth lived most of his life in Alto and attended Booker T. Washington High School and graduated from Alto High School. He served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam war and had worked as a carpenter and various other occupations. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Kenneth T. Morgan, grandson Cam Matthews, brothers James E. Griffin, Samuel L. Jordan and Hollis Jordan, sisters Mary Jo Woodard, Tina R. Hackney, Sheila Ann Hackney and Bobbie Jean Martin. Kenneth leaves to cherish his memory; wife Wesley Hackney of Alto, daughters Gayla Matthews (Ronnie) of Alto, Rhonda James of Jacksonville, Sheila James of Wells, Shamecca Hogg of Rusk and Jeanie Tyler of Lufkin, brothers Larry W. Hackney of Dallas, Robert C. Hackney (Glenda Sue) of Alto, Ray A. Hackney (Felicia) of Topeka, Kansas, Carlton Griffin of Alto and Luke Griffin of Jacksonville, sisters Brenda Hackney-Jackson of Alto and Deborah A. Hackney (Willie) of Alto, sister-in-law Rena Hackney of Sweet Union, 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be Friday night from 6-8 pm at the funeral home in Alto.
