Obituary

John C. Lindsay,  loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2018 peacefully at Nacogdoches Medical Center. Recently residing at the Arbor, a resident of Cushing, Texas since 1984, a long time member of Bethany Baptist Church. He was 91 years old.

A mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, December 1, at 2pm

at Dickie Allen Funeral Home in Cushing Texas. Interment will be immediately following at the Cushing Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the funeral home Friday at 6:30 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to senior services in Nacogdoches County.

John was born October 6, 1927 in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the youngest of five children to Charles and Bessie Lindsay. He came from a family of sharecroppers. He graduated from high school in Maryland. After graduation, he enlisted in the Army and served from 1945 to 1947 and was given an honorable discharge. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and sister.

He was a very big sports enthusiast and followed the Denver Broncos and Texas Rangers relentlessly. When he was in high school, he wanted to be on the track team, but could not meet the minimum weight requirement. When he had to weigh in, he would add extra weights so that he would qualify. He was for a time, a Golden Gloves boxer. He worked for the postal service for 36 years retiring in Arvada, Colorado.

He loved his family very much and was so proud of his children's and grandchildren's accomplishments.

He is survived by his wife, Frances, of 30 years in September; his son Michael and his wife Cindy of Beaumont, Texas; daughters Susan Ragsdale and husband Walter of Plano, Texas; Gaylene Malmberg and husband, Craig, of Texas City; grandsons Barrett Lindsay and his wife April, of Beaumont, Texas, Travis Ragsdale and his wife, Stacey, of Sachse, Texas Dustin Malmberg and his wife Jennifer of Nacogdoches, granddaughters Brandi Ragsdale and her husband, Sean, of Rockwall, Texas, Micah Stonecipher and her husband, Guy of Beaumont, Texas, Krindi Malmberg of Texas City, great grandchildren, Avery, Peyton, and Cullen Ragsdale of Sachse, Texas; Zoe Pettiford of Carrolton, Texas, Hayden and Gavin Lindsay of Beaumont and Lorraine Malmberg of Texas City.
