John William Alexander O.T. Allen & Son Funeral Home- Alto, Texas- (936)858-4111 Alto - Graveside funeral services for John William Alexander, 99, of Nacogdoches will be Saturday, June 25th 2016, at 10 AM at Oak Groves Memorial Gardens in Irving with Rev. Randy Arnold officiating and his 6 great grandsons serving as pallbearers. Mr. Alexander, a member of the First Baptist Church in Douglass, died Thursday, June 16th, in Nacogdoches. He was born May 30, 1917, in Eldorado, Texas to William Ollie and Elizabeth Davis Alexander. He moved to Nacogdoches County 12 years ago after living in Irving for 50 years. A lifetime banker, with the exception of serving in the U.S. Navy during WW II, his work in banks began as a young lad sweeping the floor and emptying spittoons at the First National Bank, Eldorado, Texas where his father served as Vice-President. His banking career ended when he retired on his 62nd birthday at the Mercantile National Bank in Dallas, Texas, where he was Assistant Vice-President. Survivors include his daughters Elizabeth (Betty) A. Ellis of Cushing, Texas and Bobby Jean Alexander of Austin; granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Lori Lynn and Bradley Dean Warren of Friendswood and their children Benjamin Michael Warren, Joshua Keith Warren, Kasey Elizabeth Warren, Emily Ann Warren, and foster children, Duncan Reid Cannell and Meagan Lorraine Stauss; Sharon Kay and James Brady Rice of Central Heights and their children, Katelyn Shay Rice, James Grant Rice and John Taylor Rice; and Susan Leigh and Kenneth John Wallace of Sunset and their children Gregory Ryan Wilhite, Kendall Leigh Wallace and Matthew Jacob Wallace. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Bobby Louise Taylor Alexander and son-in-law James William Ellis. There will be no visitation and the family request that memorials be made to the church or charity of your choice in lieu of flowers. The family expresses deepest appreciation to Westward Trails Nursing Home and Heart to Heart Hospice for their wonderful care given to Mr Alexander.
