Joana Lynn Jones, 74, of Deer Park/Alto, passed away on October 7, 2022, in Lufkin, TX with family present. She was born to Dan Raymond Pierce and Nema Joyce Lively Pierce on July 15, 1948, in Abilene, TX. She went to Sam Rayburn High School in Pasadena, TX. She married James Harold Jones on May 3, 1969, in Pasadena, TX.

Joana passionately loved her daughters, sons-in-law, granddaughters, grand puppies, and grand kitty.  She made it a point to attend as many of her granddaughters' events as she could. Whether it was dance or cheer in Deer Park or far away, she was there to support them. Ultimately, Parkinson's took Joana away from us far too soon. However, we have comfort in knowing that she is in a better place, up in heaven, reuniting with the love of her life, James. We love you mom.  Thank you for being a wonderful sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother. We will miss you.

Her family will have a simple service to celebrate her life.  In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to a Parkinson's Foundation or a charity of choice.

Joana is preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Joyce Pierce and her husband, James Jones.

Joana is survived by her daughters Shelley and Garrett Kirkendall, Sherry and Steven Robertson, granddaughters Kylie and Kasey Robertson, and sisters Anita Courts and Marlene and James Varley.
