Jerry was born on June 30, 1938 in Alto, Texas, the son of Ted B.C. Moore and Alene Watters Moore. Born in the home of his maternal aunt, Guynell Kennedy, Jerry attended Alto High School where he played football and baseball until he contracted polio at the age of 15.
