Hazel Jean Pearman, 89, of Alto, passed away May 18, 2018, in a Tyler hospital after a brief illness.Mrs. Pearman was born in Jacksonville, Texas, November 5, 1928, to Dewitt and Marcia (Butler) Caveness. She graduated from Rusk High School and continued her education, graduating from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches where she was in the marching band, playing the French horn. Jean was a longtime teacher at Alto ISD, retiring in 1989, and was a part owner of Pearman Motor Company. Jean was a talented artist and sculptor. She was preceeded in death by her husband, JH "Sonny" Pearman Jr., her sister, Cubby Brown, and her brother, Louis Caveness. Surviving family includes her son Bob and wife Liz; and son JD and his wife Jamie. Grandchildren Lee (Jennifer) Pearman, Ellen (Frank) Crothers, Kelly (Thomas) Rogers, Becky (Brandon) Koenning, Katy (Clay) Cade, Tory (Brett) Lester and Molly Pearman and 14 great-grandchildren. Also, her beloved sister-in-law, Stephanie Caveness and nephew, Dee. Visitation will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, at OT Allen and Son with graveside services following at 3:00 p.m. at the Old Palestine Cemetery with Jordan Grindle officiating. Pallbearers include Lee Pearman, Frank Crothers, Thomas Rogers, Brandon Koenning, Clay Cade, and Dee Caveness. Honorary pallbearers are Brett Lester and her Pearman Motor Company Family. A special thank you to Bridgette Locke for her loving and devoted care of Jean during her final days.
