James Emmett Tobias, 70, of Cushing, Tx passed away on May 2, 2023 in Lufkin, Tx after a short illness.

James was born in Houston Tx to Jessie and Billie Tobias on May 29, 1952.  He attended school in Houston.

He was married to Brenda Tobias of Houston. He worked as an electrician and warehouse supervisor for Reynolds Electric until retirement.

James was a multiplier of joy, a force of kindness and a helping hand to all in need.  He was genuine and unique and always had an interesting or funny story to tell – one of his favorite phrases was "swapping stories and telling lies".  He was involved in the Cushing VFD and has touched many lives in countless ways.

James is preceded in death by his wife Brenda and daughter Amy.

James is survived by his son, Jason Tobias and wife Shawndra, sisters Gloria Tobias and Shirley Tobias, grandchildren Christine Frift, Tech Sgt Kady Knight USAF, Joshua Chase Knight and special companion Bonnie Barker.

A memorial service for James Tobias, 70, of Cushing will be Saturday May 27th, 2023 at 10am at the Dickie Allen funeral home chapel, in Cushing, TX, with Brother Ronnie Gunter officiating. No visitation is scheduled. Inurnment will be at a later date.

Memorials may be given to Cushing Volunteer Fire Department.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Danny Yount, Clyde Higgins, Joshua Chase Knight, Mark Matlock, Brent Barker, Lynn Bagley and Greg Smith
