Cushing – Funeral services for James H. "J.J." Birdwell, 78, of Cushing, Texas will be Saturday August 11th at 3pm at the Dickie Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 1-3pm on Saturday also at the funeral home. Mr. Birdwell died Wednesday in Cushing. He was born March 20th, 1940 in Cushing, Texas to Hurshel and Lillie Mason Birdwell. He was a lifelong resident of Cushing and he worked as a mechanic for Williamsons Auto and Cushing Auto. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Zelda Pearl Matlock Birdwell, brother Bobby Birdwell, sister Helen Shingle, and grandson Wayne Self.

He is survived by Sisters and Brother-in-law Peggy Moore of Cushing, Texas; Judy and Gary Finklea of Cushing, Texas; Brothers and Sister-in-law Charles Birdwell of Humble, Texas; Kenneth and Martha Birdwell of Lake Striker, Texas; Daughters and Sons-in-law Sandra and Jerry Don Williamson of Cushing, Texas; Linda and Larry Self of Cushing, Texas; Gayla and Mirvel Bundrick of White Oak, Texas; Reta and Mike Nichols of Cushing, Texas; Son and Daughter-in-law Garland and Kim Matlock of Cushing, Texas; and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Grandchildren, and Great Grandchildren.
