Alto – Funeral services for Iva Joyce Phillips, 88, of Alto, will be Saturday August 12th at 3pm at Missionary Baptist Church in Alto. Visitation will be from 1-3pm prior to services at the church. Bro. Bruce Robinson and Bro. Matthew McBroom will be officiating. Burial will be at Salem Cemetery near Rusk. Mrs. Phillips died Thursday in Rusk. She was born May 20th, 1929 in Marrietta, Texas to Eustace and Cora Washington Wommack. Mrs. Phillips has been a member of the community since marrying her husband Thomas M. Phillips on September 22nd, 1951. She was a homemaker and a member of Alto Missionary Baptist Church. She loved flowers, gardening, cooking, reading, sewing, bluegrass music, taking trips to bluegrass festivals, bingo & her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her Parents, Son Ricky, Husband Thomas Phillips, Great Granddaughter Rachel McBroom, 4 Brothers Harold, Eural, J.D., and Pete Wommack, 3 Sisters Fay Crouch, Lois Butts, and Geneva Shaw.

She is survived by her Daughters and Sons-in-law Carol and Linard Dowling of Rusk, Texas; Donna and Johnnie Dowling of Rusk, Texas; Robert Phillips of Athens, Texas; Sisters and Brother-in-law Ida Kessler of Sanger, Texas; Corene and Dalton Proffer of Gainsville, Texas; Sisters-in-law Frances Wommack and Edna Moake; Brother-in-law J.W. Crouch; Sister-in-law and Brother-in-law Wayne and Betty Mayo. 16 Grandchildren, 40 Great Grandchildren, and 4 Great Great Grandchildren.
