Funeral services for Gloria Dean Hackney, 70, of Lufkin and formerly of Alto will be Saturday at 10:30 Am at The River Church in Alto. There will be a family visitation from 6-8 PM Friday at the funeral home in Alto. Gloria passed away Sunday, August 30th in Lufkin. She was born February 16, 1956 in Alto to George Robert Hackney and Jethro Mae Bass Hackney. Gloria had lived most of he life in Alto and has lived in Lufkin for the last 26 years. She was a graduate of Alto High School in 1974 and a member of the Union Hill Baptist Church in Alto. Gloria had worked at Whiteman Foods in Alto as a young woman and had worked at the Rusk State Hospital for 44 years, last working as a supervisor. She was a big sports fan and an avid Dallas Cowboys supporter. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Ella Marie Thacker and Bealuh Hackney and brothers Mathis Earl Hackney, Rockland Denorris Hackney and Kelvin Don Hackney. She is survived by son George Hackney of Lufkin, daughters Yolanda Davis and husband Paul of Lufkin, Shamekia Hackney of Lufkin, brothers Robert Hackney of Alto and Larry Hackney of Alto, sister Vanessa Hackney of Lufkin and grandchildren Tyrek Hackney, Jharell Hackney, ShVara Hackney and Jaylen Hackney. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery in Alto.
