Obituary

Cushing- Funeral services for George "Tuff" Brooks, 88, of Cushing, Texas will be Saturday March 25th at 2pm at the Dickie Allen funeral home chapel. Visitation will be Friday from 6-8pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at Sacul Cemetery. Mr. Brooks passed away on March 21, 2017 in Nacogdoches,Texas. Tuff was born December 21, 1928 in Sacul, Texas to Charlie and Evie Brooks. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother J.W. Brooks, sisters Wonice Paden and Lola Armstrong. Tuff was an avid hunter, fisherman, and Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved spending time in his garden and peach orchard. When he was unable to work in his garden and peach orchard, he would still drive to Sacul every day, just to check everything out. He married the love of his life of 63 years, Barbara Ann Casey, April 10, 1954 in Houston, Texas. He was in the Unites States Army, serving in the Korean War. Tuff worked in Alaska from 1957-1985 as an operating engineer with heavy equipment and construction. He was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church. Tuff is survived by his loving wife Barbara, sisters Trixie Heath, and Lela "Nicky" Clemons, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
