Funeral services for Essie Larnette Hodge, 44, of Alto will be held Tuesday, September 15, at 2 PM at the Weeping Mary Baptist Church in Alto, Texas. A visitation will be Monday, September 14, From 6-8 PM at the funeral home in Alto. Ms. Hodge passed away Thursday, September 10, in Alto. She was born May 3, 1976 in Lufkin, Texas. Essie had lived most of her life in Alto and had worked as a cashier at the Shell convenience store in Alto. Essie was a member of the Weeping Mary Baptist church and was preceded in death by Grandmother Essie B. Thacker and Grandfather Johnny Lofton. She is survived by Mother, and stepfather Gladie and Donald Anderson of Alto, father Larry Jenkins of Alto, brothers and sisters-in-law Cedric and Corine Pope of Dallas, Nikita and Roshunda Jenkins of Alto, sisters Tyronda Hodge of Alto, Ironda Jenkins of Alto and Patercie McGowan of Lufkin, step-brothers Kendrick Anderson, Cedric Coleman and Donald Coleman Jr., Grandmother Viola Jenkins of Alto, God-sons Michael Harvey of Lufkin, Jeff Pope of Houston and Anfernee Black of Alto, God-sisters Marqueshia Lacy of Kilgore and Earlina Devereaux of Troup and best friends Fred Hackney and Khalesha Anderson.
