Allen & Son Funeral Home- Alto, Texas- (936)858-4111 Alto - Funeral services for Essie Mae Hamilton., 98, of Alto will be Tuesday, Sept. 20th, at 1pm at the St. Thomas Chapel AME Church near Alto with Rev. Billy Burton & Rev. Johnny Thacker officiating. Burial will be in the St. Thomas Chapel Cemetery. Mrs. Hamilton died Thursday, September 15th, in Jacksonville. She was born April 13th, 1918 in Alto, Texas to Willie Watson & Bertha Thompson Watson. She lived all her life in Alto and was a member of the St. Thomas Chapel AME Church and a homemaker, mother and grandmother. Essie was preceded in death by husband CoNeal Hamilton, children Teal Hamilton, Jessie Mae Zachery, Arma Lee Thacker and Roxie Ann Richardson, God Daughter Alzata Glenn as well as 5 brothers and 2 sisters. Essie was survived by daughters Goldie Mae Hamilton of Alto, Bertha Mae Pope of Alto, Lonnie Mae Ross of Alto, Alberta Pope of Alto, Helen Dickerson of Alto, Katherleen Booker of Alto and Verdie Jean Moore of Nacogdoches, sisters Willie Mae Scott of Jacksonville, Linnie Thompson of Dallas, 36 Grandchildren, 101 Great Grandchildren, 124 Great Great Grandchildren and 17 Great Great Great Grandchildren. There will be a visitation Monday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home in Alto.
