Funeral services for Eldon "Tick" Eugene Baker, 94, of Cushing will be 2:00 PM Friday, October 22, 2021 at Dickie Allen Funeral Home in Cushing. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Thursday, October 21, 2021 at the Dickie Allen Funeral Home. Eldon "Tick" Eugene Baker passed away today in Reklaw, Texas at his daughter's home. Tick was born November 2, 1926 to Wesley Baker and Gertrude Gladden Baker in Cushing, Texas. He served his country with honor as a member of the United States Army. Eldon "Tick" Baker was a master mechanic, worked as a service representative for Sealwright, oil rigs, and retired as a millwright from Land O' Pines in Lufkin, Texas. Tick moved to Cushing in 1991 after his retirement and remained a resident for 30 years. He loved to hunt, fish, and anything to do with animals. He would watch National Geographic, Wild Kingdom, and enjoyed learning and being entertained by the variety of animals on those programs. Tick would sit and feed the birds, squirrels, and even deer. He also loved his westerns and especially John Wayne. Tick was preceded in death by parents, wife Nell Baker, brothers Paul D. Baker, Doc Baker, Charlie Baker, and sister Dorothy Caver. He is survived by daughter Margaret Ann Baker-Lewis (and husband Ed), sons John Wesley (and Vicki) of Mineola, Texas, Robert Marshall (and wife Susan) of Diboll, Texas, Ronald Eugene (and wife Cathy) of Huntington, Texas; and, sisters Betty Mae Nichols of Cushing, Texas and Sandra Jean Ford (and husband Bobby) of DeSoto, Texas. He also leaves behind grandchildren Cassi Noel McKinney, Jesse Leigh Gilley, Brian Wesley Baker, Brandi Michelle Baker, Todd Marshall Baker, and Wesley Eugene Baker; and, six great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, loved ones, and friends.
Pallbearer will be Todd Baker, Brian Baker, Wesley Baker, Tyler Jensen, Ed Lewis, and Corey McKinney
Pastor Jerry Bennett will be officiating services.
