Obituary

Cushing-Funeral services for Elbert Ray Johnson, 67, of Trawick will be Saturday March 23rd, at 1pm at the Dickie Allen Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Rupert Purifoy officiating. Burial will follow at Fuller Cemetery. Mr. Johnson died Wednesday, March 13th, in Nacogdoches. He was born September 1st, 1951 in Trawick to Elmer B Johnson and Claudia Watkins Johnson. Mr. Johnson was Baptist and had worked for the City of Cushing as a heavy equipment operator. He had lived all his life in Nacogdoches County and had also worked for Exxon Gas as well as Richard Johnson Construction and J.W. Johnson construction. Elbert enjoyed Barbequing, hunting, fishing and working with a backhoe. He was preceded in death by his parents and his companion, Betty Morrison. Elbert is survived by his children Elbert Whitaker of Garrison, Leo Whitaker of Dallas, daughters Teresa Deckard (Stephanie) of Gainesville, Faye Morrison of Houston,numerous step children,  sisters Rita Anderson of Nacogdoches and Lillie Derrett of Nacogdoches, brother Early Ervin (Jeannette) of Dallas, grandchildren JaquaylinWhitaker, Lasha Neketria Duffie, Terryonna Gilmore and Taevion Gilmore as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. Visitation will be Friday, March 22, from 6-8 pm at the funeral home in Cushing.
