Alto – Funeral services for Denorris Hackney, 63, of Alto will be Saturday, May 26, at 11 AM at The River Church (formerly Alto Community Fellowship) in Alto with Rev. D'artagnan Shedd officiating. Burial will follow at the New Hope Cemetery in Alto. Denorris died Sunday, May 20, in Houston. He was born September 19, 1954 in Alto, Texas to George Robert Hackney and Jethro Mae Bass Hackney. He live in Alto all of his life and had attended the Union Hill Baptist Church. Denorris had worked in Logging and had also been an employee of Whiteman Foods. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Ella Marie Thacker and brother Kelvin Hackney. He is survived by his wife Rena Hackney of Alto, sons Zerrick Dickson of Lufkin, Perry James (Lashanda) of Central, Denorris Hackney Jr. of Alto and Desmond Hackney of Alto, daughter Shakedra Guinn (Andre) of Alto, brothers Robert Hackney (Patsy), Earl Hackney (Gloria) of Alto and Larry Hackney of Alto and sisters Beulah Hackney of Lufkin, Gloria Hackney of Lufkin and Vanessa Hackney of Lufkin. Denorris also has 5 grandchildren George Hackney Jr. (Kortney), Daylon Guinn, Devin Guinn, Reanna Guinn and Shay Dickson, 3 great grandchildren Khalidah, Rhilyn and Malachi. Visitation will be Friday, May 25, from 6-8 PM at the funeral home in Alto.
