Funeral services for Daniel Tilmon New Sr., 88, of Jacksonville, Texas will be at 2:00 pm Monday, October 23, 2022, at Rusk Church of Christ in Rusk, Texas with Kenley Dover officiating. There will be a visitation Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Dickie Allen Funeral Home in Cushing. Daniel was born November 8, 1933, to Gail Hampton New Sr. and Mary Mabel Davis New in Westover, Texas. Daniel married Belinda Whitley December 16, 1960, and they enjoyed over sixty-one years of happiness together.

He graduated from Marble Falls High School in 1952.  He was in the Air Force (active military & AF Reserve) from 1956 to 1962.  During his service, he was a member of the US Forces Japan for the team disaster relief efforts as an aftermath of Typhoon Vera in Nagoya Japan in 1959.  He received the Good Conduct Medal from January 31, 1956 – January 30, 1959.

He was a hard worker no matter what profession he was in.  Being a dairyman, rancher, truck driver, landscaper, or working with wood. He was also a gentle and caring man.  He attributed his wisdom and longevity on this earth to the good Lord.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Belinda New, daughter Melody Goff, sister Juanelle Linenberger, great granddaughters Jaylie Gray & Gracelyn Gonzalez, and daughter-in-law Sharon New. He is survived by son Daniel "Boog" New, Jr. of Rusk, daughters Rhonda Dover of Jacksonville and Nadine New of Rusk, son-in-law John Goff of Reklaw, brother Gail New Jr. of Marble Falls, Texas. He also leaves behind to cherish his memory thirteen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and numerous extended family members.

Pallbearers will be Dakota Dover, Dan New, Jake Goff, Josh Langston, Jordon Langston, and Oz Gonzalez
