Obituary

Cheryl Strickland Pierce passed away peacefully in Midland, Texas on June 7, 2018. Cheryl was born on February 5, 1958 and grew up in Weches, TX, studying at Kennard High School and later earned her LVN license from Tyler Junior College.

Cheryl enjoyed growing up in East Texas and had a good country life. She helped her family pick peas, can veggies (although she didn't eat many green things) and learned how to cook good country food and did so for her family, but also enjoyed a nice meal out. She was a great friend and always did what she could to help others.

After having her daughter, she settled in Alto. She worked as a nurse in various nursing homes caring for the elderly. She always had a caring heart for those in need and really connected with them. On most weekends, she really enjoyed going to Coon Pond for camping trips to hunt and fish with family and friends which led to many a fish fry. Cheryl enjoyed books and was an avid reader as well as enjoying watching movies. Her favorite thing to do was to play games and laugh with family and friends – she absolutely loved it. This was always a big part of her life and she hosted many legendary game nights.

Of all the names she has had over the years, her favorite by far was Nona. Her grandkids called her by that name and she was a great one.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her mother, Trubie Moake, her father, Charles Strickland, and her brother, Mike Strickland. She is survived by her daughter, Camille Gilbert Robinson, son-in-law Charlie Robinson, grandkids, Kate Robinson and Kyler Robinson as well as her aunt, Ethel Tims.

The family wishes to thank Hospice of Midland and the staff at Midland Memorial Hospital for the care she received for the last days of her life here on earth.

Family and friends are welcome for a memorial service scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 21st at OT Allen Funeral Home in Alto, TX. Please note that there will be no gravesite service, so in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Cancer Research Institute at the following website https://www.cancerresearch.org/join-the-cause/fundraise/flowers-in-memory-of-cheryl-pierce
