Funeral services for Ava Jo Jones, 85, of Henderson will be Wednesday, February 5, at the Old Palestine Cemetery in Alto, with a visitation beginning at Noon at the cemetery. Ava Jo passed away Friday, January 31 in Tyler. She was born June 30, 1939 in Alto, Texas to Joe Fred Cosper and Merry Idell Cash Cosper. Ava Jo grew up in Alto and had lived in Henderson for many years. She had worked as an LVN for Dr. Earl but her favorite job had been working as a nurse for the Bradshaw State Prison. She loved gambling at the boats in Louisiana, dogs, horses and getting out to mow her yard. She also loved dancing to Little Richard music and driving her Mustang 5.0 with the top down. She also loved listening to Tom Jones' music. She couldn't marry Tom Jones so she had to settle for Joe Jones. Ava Jo was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Merry Delahoussaye and Martha Robin. She is survived by husband Billy Joe Jones, daughter Terry Lavender, step-daughters Deborah Ashcraft and Tina Jameson, granddaughter Jennifer James and husband John, great grandchildren Kinslee, Wesley & Braydon Bertrand and great great grandson Weston Bertrand.
