Alto - Funeral services for Alvin Curtis Pounders, 93, of Freeport and formerly of Alto will be Wednesday February 22nd at 11am at the O.T. Allen & Son chapel. Burial will follow at Arnold Cemetery. Mr. Pounders died Friday February 17th, 2017 in Lake Jackson. He was born December 28th, 1923 in Alto, Texas to William Lunan and Emma Louise Quine Pounders. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific Isle and lived in Freeport for 30 years where he worked for Dow Chemical. He loved hunting, fishing, and gardening. He is preceded in death by his parents, 1st love Maxine Pounders, and Granddaughter Misty Dawn Higgins. He is survived by many loved ones including 2nd love Margaret Ramsey of New London, Tx, Curtis and Carol Pounders of Clifton, TN, James and Faye Pounders of Brazoria, Tx, Linda Ramsey of New London, Tx, Sara Finley of New London, Tx, Judy and Ronny Gaudet of New London, Tx, Jody Ramsey of New London, Tx, Lanny Ramsey of New London, Tx, Mary Joyce Oliver of Lufkin, Texas, Dorothy Taylor of Lufkin, Texas, and Numerous Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Visitation will take place Wednesday from 9:30-11am at the funeral home prior to services.
