Obituary

Albert Ashley Thigpen, born January 30, 1948, son of Leon Truett Thigpen and Edna Ophelia Fleming Thigpen, rested from this earthly life May 8, 2022.  Al graduated Jesse H Jones High School, Houston, Texas, in 1966 and studied computer science at the University of Houston. An entrepreneur-at-heart, Al co-owned florists and operated newspaper distributorships for the Houston Post and the Houston Chronicle throughout southeast Houston with his father.  Loyal, sensitive and trustworthy, his independence was full of humor and wit. Al is preceded in death by his grandparents, Rev. L.A. Thigpen, Amy Burnett Thigpen, Albert Fleming and Willie Covington Fleming Ditto; father and mother; numerous beloved aunts and uncles.  Al is survived by his sister Susan Van Bogelen (Craig), nieces, great nieces and nephews, and cousins. Services will be held at 12:00 noon, Monday May 16, 2022, at the OT Allen Funeral home in Alto, Texas.  There will be a visitation starting at 11:00am on the day of the funeral.  Graveside service at Old Palestine Cemetery will follow the service.
