Graveside funeral services for Joe Lawrence Pate, 82, of Cushing will be Friday, November 8, at 12 Noon, at the Isabel Chapel Cemetery near Mt. Enterprise. Mr. Pate passed away Saturday, November 2, in Nacogdoches. He was born September 4, 1937 in Martinsville, Texas to Virgil Pate and Vallie Douley Pate. He had grown up in Chireno and lived in Cushing for the last 43 years. Mr. Pate was an auto mechanic and had also worked for Nacogdoches County in road maintenance. He loved fishing and gardening and was Baptist. Joe was preceded in death by his wife Becky Ann “Polly” Pate and brother Larry Pate. He is survived by sons Terry Wayne Rogers of Arlington and David Leon Rogers of Tijeras, New Mexico, daughter Rhonda “Sissy” Gibbs of South Jordan, Utah, grandchildren Samuel Rogers, Daniel Rogers, Rebecca Gibbs-Nybo, Justin Gibbs, Brandi Gibbs, Tammy Gibbs-Welch and Stephanie Rogers-Andrews, great grandchildren Savannah Nybo, Ethan Nybo, Dacia Nybo, Joshua Nybo, Jamie Andrews and Charli Wheeler as well as nephews Kenneth Pate and Kyle Pate. Visitation will be Thursday, November 7, from 6-8 PM at the funeral home in Cushing.
