Funeral services for Hunter Nicholas Nichols-Herndon, 23, of Cushing and formerly of Forney will be Saturday at 2:00 PM in the Cushing High School Coliseum with Nick Tidwell, Brian Nichols and Ricki Browning officiating. Burial will follow at the McKnight Cemetery near Cushing. Hunter passed away Tuesday, December 17, in Nacogdoches. He was born September 9, 1996 in Nacogdoches to Harry And Tisha Nichols Herndon. Hunter lived most of his life in Forney, Texas and graduated from North Forney High School. He also graduated from Southern Methodist University where he had attended on a football scholarship. Hunter did pipeline/ oilfield work and was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He had attended First Baptist Church of Forney. Hunter was an outgoing, friendly person who “never met a stranger” and easily made friends wherever he went. He was preceded in death by grandfather Dick Herndon and grandmother Linda Buckley, great grandparents A.C. and Juanita Streetman, J.E. and Irma Herndon and Bobby Joe and Marty Nichols. Hunter is survived by his parents Tisha and Harry Herndon of Rockwall, sister Carmen Herndon, brothers Hayden Herndon and Hudson Herndon all of Rockwall, grandparents Ricki and Judy Browning of Caddo Mills and Mike and Reta Nichols of Cushing, great grandparents Kenneth and Janis Wall, aunts and uncles Kali and Derrick Eddy, Ryan and Amanda Sitton and Ashley Herndon-Stanley,cousins Regan, Kennedy, Hadley and Sage, best friends Trey Bedrick, Daniel Grigsby and Tyler Gresham and numerous other close friends. Pallbearers are Daniel Grigsby, Tyler Gresham Trey Bedrick, Ryan Sitton, Logan Young and Davis Danzinger. Visitation will be Friday, the 20th, from 6-8 PM at the funeral home in Cushing.
